Music Under New York
One of the best experiences I had was busking in the subways of New York. Sometimes it was rough, but everything taught me something. The audition process with Music Under New York was in Grand Central, and out of over 400 applications, 25 of us were picked. Singing in the stations garnered bookings in clubs, collaborative recordings, private parties, and callbacks for shows. It led to meeting fans from Broadway shows, Spiritual Advisors, international tourists (even one of the original Drifters himself), and, of course, beloved MTA workers and commuters from all five boroughs. I even got to be the subject of a student film! Auditions are every year, so go out and make that money and book those gigs!
